What is the Coronavirus catch-up premium?

As a result of the unprecedented disruption to children’s education due to Covid19, the government has announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up. The primary aim of this funding allocated to schools is to ensure that all schools have the support they need to help all pupils make up for the lost learning time.

Discovery Academy has been allocated £102,080 as part of the catch-up premium plan.

Below you can find our Catch-Up Premium plan which details how we intend to spend the funding to support the catch-up of our pupils.

Year 7 Catch up premium

The Discovery Academy has also been given a grant of £29,785 for the Year 7 Catch Up Premium to help narrow the gap by providing intensive literacy and numeracy support and raise attainment of those students entitled to Catch-Up Premium, enhance existing provision, identify concerns and target intervention and support to accelerate progress, and to intervene quickly if any chosen strategy or intervention fails to show impact.
